Lavaş Ekmek means "Lavash Bread" In Turkish. In the last blog post, I told you that you can prepare this while your chickpeas take an hour to cook.
Lavash is a thin, kind of chewy flatbread that goes amazing with hummus. It can also be used to wrap chicken shreds, or shawarma. Who doesn't love easy shawarma without anything complicated like Pita? I do, and I'm sure you do too. This Ekmek is very easy to make. It requires only 2 ingredients (4 if you count the salt and water).
Ingredients
(Makes 4 flatbreads)
¾ Cup of All-purpose flour
1/4 Cup of Water
¼ tsp of Baking powder
Salt to Taste
How to Prepare
To make the dough, Add all the ingredients to the bowl. Make a well in the centre and add the water. Bring it together and knead until smooth, about 3 minutes. Rest for 5 minutes.
How to Cook
Divide the dough ball into 4 parts. Roll
each part out as thin as you can.
To cook, heat a Cast Iron pan (If you don't have it, Teflon is fine) over medium heat. when you drop water on the pan, it should evaporate immediately. Now carefully lay the flatbread onto the skillet. Wait until it has bubbles and flip. When the other side looks cooked, take it out. Cover to prevent staling and drying out.
I'll try this! thanks for dropping the recipe!
